View FAQs →Sizing is never one-size-fits-all. Grade level is a useful starting point, but the right chair and desk height depends on the actual size of your students — and that varies significantly from classroom to classroom. Use this as a guide, not a rulebook.

Both are laminate surfaces, but they are not the same. Understanding the difference helps you make the right specification for a school environment.
HIGH PRESSURE LAMINATE
Multiple layers of resin-saturated kraft paper are fused together under extreme heat and pressure (>1,000 psi) to create a dense, rigid panel. The decorative layer is then bonded to this core and sealed — producing one of the hardest, most durable surfaces available for furniture.
THERMALLY FUSED LAMINATE
A single sheet of decorative melamine paper is fused directly onto a particle board substrate using heat and pressure. The result is thinner and lighter than HPL, which makes it cost-effective — but also less durable under heavy, repeated use.

Every Educan desk and table ships with HPL as standard.
We also apply our proprietary Edulast 6-coat clear varathane lacquer sealant over the HPL surface for additional stain and moisture protection — no other furniture manufacturer in Canada includes this as standard.
Different learning styles call for different furniture arrangements. Here are the most common setups we help schools build.
Forward-facing desks for direct instruction and testing. Use Study Desks or Rectangular Tables (Model 1000).
Groups of 4–6 students facing each other for collaborative work. Pair Bowtie tables (1000B) into compact pods.
Full-class discussion circles. Six Trapezoidal tables (1000T) form a complete circle, or use a large Round table (1000R).
Teacher-visible layout with open centre. Horseshoe tables (1000HS) or a combination of Rectangular and Half-Round tables.
Reconfigurable classroom. Flip-top (1000FT) and Cluster tables (1000CL) on casters let teachers reset in minutes.
T-Series tables (1000TS) have built-in grommet holes and CPU holder options for clean cable management.
